Summer Nights

September 5, 2017

Summer is on the verge of coming to an end in only a few short days, and as I brace for the back to school hustle and bustle I wanted share our favorite Summer past time. On most Summer nights you can find us in our backyard dining under the grape drenched pergola and roasting s’mores by the bonfire while listening to our favorite tunes, and as the sky darkens, the cafe lights come on and it most certainly adds an element of magic to the entire space. We’ll often take dips in the hot tub, kid size flamingo and penguin floaties  are always welcomed to the party.

We designed the backyard with the mindset that it’s got to be an area that fosters spending time together outdoors in a safe, relaxed, and tranquil environment, where there is room to chill, play, explore, and eat. It took a few years to get here, but we did it with our own hands and the helping hands of family and friends.

These photos were captured on the kiddos last day of school and the scene earlier in the day was In and Out burgers for lunch and gift wrap strewn all over the deck as the kiddos and my Husband tirelessly spent hours putting together ginormous LEGO building sets we gifted them each with for the hard work they put in throughout the school year. Filing this under days I never want to forget.

Gorgeous backyard! Did you build the L shaped seating yourselves?

Thank you! We did, we used cinder blocks for the base and built a 2×4 bench to rest on top.
