Wearing Jord Dover Watch at Modern Times Brewery

Modern Times Brewery DTLA RestaurantLos Angeles, DTLA, Modern Times BreweryI love the month of February for mainly one reason and that’s because of Valentine’s Day.  I am super excited that it will be coming up soon. For our recent date day I’ve partnered with our friends at JORD, the fine makers of wooden watches, to add a bit of cool to our outfits. We are each sporting our own unique men’s and women’s wooden watches. Our style can be described as down to earth and unfussy so we like to stay away from flashy accessories and these  JORD watches fit the bill. I love that I can pair it with either t-shirt and jeans, or a pretty dress. Looking good, feeling comfortable and enjoying ourselves fully is the secret to having the best date day ever.

We are vigilant about keeping two calendar days open a month for “us” time. The itinerary on these days always revolve around eating, drinking (coffee is usually my beverage of choice), and exploring our beloved City of Angels.  On this date day we choose Bottega Louie as the first stop. It’s an Italian restaurant, a cafe, and a French Patisserie operating under one roof in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. I ordered a latte and the hubs had their decadent monkey bread pastry. It tasted so heavenly that one bite was not enough. I admit to stealing a few large bites of it whenever he was busy glancing at his phone or his watch.

I absolutely adored all the design elements, yes to all the Carrera marble and opulent brass details. It had all the romantic vibes a gal could ask for.  And then there were macarons by the boatload and available in every color of the rainbow. Those fancy little delightful confections will get you into trouble because you can’t have just one. I also picked out a few flavors of macarons to the surprise the kids with.

The next stop was a short walk around the corner to a more manly location. This place was right up the hubs alley and he was loving every minute spent at The Modern Times brewpub called The Dankness Dojo. It was definitely a stark contrast to the bright, white and more feminine feel of Bottega Louie.  The brewpub had just been opened  for a week  or so which explained why their menu selection was very limited, but the beers on tap were really tasty and that alone more than made up for it. I had the hibiscus saison and it was sublime.

The design of this restaurant really focused on utilizing large-scale and unique wall art as their main decor. Our favorite was the neon sign “Be Excellent To Each Other”. Could there be a phrase more fitting for two lovebirds on a Valentine’s Day date? Although if we had brought our 7 year old, he would have said the large Lite Brite wall was his favorite. Our waitress was the friendliest and we really can’t wait to go back again when they are in full operating mode.

If you are looking for some Valentine’s Day date ideas, I would highly recommend both restaurants. And if you are not sure about a Valentine’s day gift for your special someone, checkout JORD’s website for a unique selection of handcrafted wooden watches made from sustainable resources.  After you find the watch you love be sure to enter the JORD WATCH GIVEAWAY.  One lucky person will win $100 towards a unique quality wooden watch, but everyone who enters will get a 10% off code after the contest ends.
